now about those monkeys... snipets of wikipedia anyone?
Writing, is the representation of language in a textual medium; that is with the use of signs or symbols. It is distinguished from illustration such as cave drawings and paintings, and recording language via a non-textual medium such as magnetic tape audio...

Writing was started due to accountancy. Around the 4th millennium BC, the complexity of trade and administration outgrew the power of memory. Writing became more dependable for recording and presenting transactions in a permanent form (Robinson, 2003, p. 36)....

The person who composes text is generally styled a writer, or an author. However, more specific designations exist, which are dictated by the particular nature of the text; for example, poet, essayist, novelist, and the list goes on.

Writing is also a distinctly human activity. It has been said that a monkey, randomly typing away on a typewriter (in the days when typewriters replaced the pen or plume as the preferred instrument of writing) could re-create Shakespeare-- but only if it lived long enough (this is known as the infinite monkey theorem). Such writing has been speculatively designated as coincidental. It is also speculated that extra-terrestrial beings exist who may possess writing. The fact is, however, that the only known writing is human writing.

yackity yak
I think I misplaced a couple of days... put them down and forgot where I put them... like a pair of glasses or car keys... but I have found other things while I was looking for those days of writing... which is one of the fringe benefits of losing writing days... however my iPod nano is also still missing... i think my backpack must have been nano picked last spring... but it is entirely possible it is still somewhere here, slipped behind something...

...and even though I know no way there will be a new novel done at the end of the month, I try to keep an image of those sashaying monkeys with parasols infront of me and then I don't feel so bad... those monkeys make me happy...

anyone else going great guns? squirt guns even?

A Clean Well Lighted Place
My Nano is sort of a Star Wars story. I've been working on the dialog for a middle section of my play novel. The conversation is between two of my main characters, Darth Lord Polonius Vader and Hamlet Skywalker. Hamlet's hot for Darth Polonius's daughter Princess Leia Ophelia, but he's also a little weird in the head. Here's what I've written so far. Let me know what you think.

[Aside] How say you by that? Still harping on my
daughter: yet he knew me not at first; he said I
was a fishmonger: he is far gone, far gone: and
truly in my youth I suffered much extremity for
love; very near this. I'll speak to him again.
What do you read, my lord?
Words, words, words.
What is the matter, my lord?
Between who?
I mean, the matter that you read, my lord.
Slanders, sir: for the satirical rogue says here
that old men have grey beards, that their faces are
wrinkled, their eyes purging thick amber and
plum-tree gum and that they have a plentiful lack of
wit, together with most weak hams: all which, sir,
though I most powerfully and potently believe, yet
I hold it not honesty to have it thus set down, for
yourself, sir, should be old as I am, if like a crab
you could go backward.
[Aside] Though this be madness, yet there is method
in 't. Will you walk out of the air, my lord?
Into my grave.
Indeed, that is out o' the air.

Dear Muca moderator, I really don't know how I am going to do this NaNo Monkeyness novel... it is insanity, because this month we have a new puppy to train and I have to keep going with my novel-in-progress and lose 25 pounds... so that is going to be  my wild November... but I am absolutely going to give it a shot... I notice that <lj user ="ndozo"> hasn't joined the group yet... hmmmmm... whats with that?
